Artist's Description
This painting celebrates the magic of the coastal rainforest, with a glimpse of a beautiful Bear family!
The Great Bear Rainforest is the land of sacred Spirit Bears, with 1000 year old Cedars, and Spruce that grow to nearly 100 meters high! Waterways carve through the forest, holding important salmon, while carpets of moss tumble all the way down into the rich marine environment that lines its coast.
The vision I have painted is inspired by my time in this forest and at sea. It is not from any particular place, but rather my collective experience of it. I added the sun because in a rainforest, sunshine is a rare gift. But rarer yet, is our last remaining old-growth forests.⠀
The original painting was sold in support of Pacific Wild - an organization that does important conservation work within the forest.
About Tamara Phillips
Tamara's art is inspired by the raw beauty of the natural world, resonating cellular life and ethereal vibrancy. Her detailed watercolor paintings are woven together in earth tones, and she uses the malleability of watercolor to explore the connection between myth, dream, intuition, and reality. Tamara was born on Vancouver Island, Canada. She obtained her BSc in Biology from the University of Victoria and currently resides in coastal British Columbia. An itinerant wanderer, she enjoys both backcountry and world travel, and has called city, sea, and forest her home. Drawing from the subconscious, and filtered through the biological, she continues to investigate our beautiful Earth.
